Home Design Ideas: Integrating a Butler’s Pantry

There are many ways to make a kitchen an integral part of your custom home design.

There are many ways to make a kitchen an integral part of your custom home’s design. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed when it comes to designing a brand new home that will serve as a base for you and your family for years to come. One idea is to incorporate a butler’s pantry. Let’s learn more about it

What Exactly Is It?

Butler’s pantries are a transitional space between the kitchen and the dining room. Cabinets and countertops are the focal points here. They’re a useful staging ground for larger, more lavish meals. You can also find space to store candles, serving utensils, table linens, tableware, and wine. Plus, you will find a secondary location for appliances and fixtures such as dishwashers, refrigerators, and sinks.

Why Do You Want One?

So this all begs the question: why do you want one? Let’s have a look at some of the benefits of adding this place to your custom home design. You’ve got more room for cooking, cleaning, and storage. The cabinets provide more storage space while keeping everything in easy reach, especially when it comes to preparing meals. There’s a smaller footprint, allowing you to enlarge nearby rooms such as living rooms and dining rooms.

Planning It Out

Let’s talk about the layout. The layout will hinge on storage space and how many pieces you plan to put in there: wine coolers, dishwashers, stand mixers, slow cookers, and coffee makers all need somewhere to go. How will meal prep go? Do you want to entertain guests here? If so, have it double as a bar! The pantry also makes for a useful place to wash the dishes and perform other clean up duties without overloading your main kitchen, as well!
