Ideas for Remodeling Your Kitchen on a Budget

Ideas for Remodeling Your Kitchen on a Budget

Depending on your budget, remodeling your kitchen could be more expensive than you might expect.

Depending on your budget, remodeling your kitchen could be more expensive than you might expect. Even when you have a tight budget, you can still make it happen. You’ve just got to make some smarter choices

Keep Cabinets, Change Doors

One of the major changes made during any kitchen remodel is when cabinets are replaced. Instead of tearing out the existing cabinets, just change the doors that are attached to them. Other ideas include repainting or staining; adding new trim or molding; or finally, pulling the doors off and going with an open-shelf look

Put Stencils on Old Tile

Worn-out tile looks like it has seen better days. That’s why it’s so tempting to rip it out and replace it with brand new tile. However, that approach can get more expensive than you might expect at the outset. Painting some stencils on the old tile can bring it back to life

Update the Lights

Changing the lights is another great way to remodel your kitchen without having to go through a lot of hassle. DIY lighting kits cost less than $30 and you won’t need to consult an electrician – though we would recommend that you do anyway, at least on principle! This is how you can get recessed lighting affordably and without a time-consuming investment on your part.

Paint the Floor

The floor is the most overlooked part of the kitchen. Think about the condition of your floors and subfloors. Your budget might not allow you to spend thousands of dollars on an all-out replacement, as you had hoped. Instead, painting the floor or subfloors will only be in the low-hundreds cost-wise, which makes it a much safer investment.

Change How the Kitchen Looks

Sometimes, a partial remodel can be better than a full remodel. A new backsplash and new countertop make a huge difference without hurting your wallet too much. These two changes cover a majority of the surface area in your kitchen. Painting the cabinets gives a refreshing look that makes your kitchen look brand new without breaking the bank. Wondering what to choose for your new countertops? You can’t go wrong with quartz!
