The Bath Remodel: Sizing Up Your Small Bathroom

The time could be right for a full-on remodel or renovation, too. Here are some ideas for how to get your bath remodel project started!

Do you have a small bathroom in your home? If so, there are ways to make it look bigger than it is. The time could be right for a full-on remodel or renovation, too. Here are some ideas for how to get your bath remodel project started

Change the Color Scheme

The color of your bathroom can make an enormous difference in how spacious it looks. Bathrooms with darker palettes automatically look smaller than they should. That’s why it’s a good idea to refresh your space through a bathroom remodel; get some new colors in there! You might be curious about which colors to use – in this case, play around with whites, softer greys, and even some pastels. Mix and match colors for the walls, floors, and tiles.

Put a Sink in the Corner

Here’s another tip: put the sink in the corner. Pedestal sinks are amazingly versatile, but they might not even be able to squeeze into a bathroom that is in dire need of expansion. Another way to get the most out of your bath remodel is to move the fixtures somewhere they make more sense. Corner sinks can save more space.

Remove Swinging Doors

Take a minute to think about the layout and design of your bathroom. Does the shower combine with the tub? Or do you have a shower stall and a freestanding tub? The shower stall might also have a swinging door. Get rid of this door to save more space. A sliding door can help resolve this problem as well. Oh, and don’t forget about the cabinets! Open shelves can make the bathroom feel bigger, too, even if this seems like an insignificant detail.

Take Advantage of Luxury Features

Part of remodeling your bathroom involves adding luxurious new features. Renovating a small bathroom is less expensive than doing the same for a larger bathroom, so you have more room in your budget for the finer things in life! For instance, try adding a skylight to your bathroom!
